August 29, 2017–Hannah Berg is the fifth annual recipient of a scholarship award from ARTrails of Southwest Washington. Hannah graduated from Centralia High School in 2016, and has just completed her first year at Centralia College where she is studying for an Associate in Arts degree.
Hannah’s favorite mediums are painting and mixed media. As part of the application process, Hannah was required to submit a minimum of five examples of her work for jurying.
Next year, ARTrails plans to also offer a scholarship to a student who wants to attend another school in addition to the Centralia College award. Interested students can obtain application forms at the college scholarship office; they will also be available on our website.
The upcoming studio tours are the talk of the town! Be sure to plan yours now. All the information is available on our newly updated website, or you can obtain one of the catalogues from any ARTrails member, or many of the businesses in Lewis County and Olympia.
Several studios, in addition to The Rectangle Gallery and The Morgan Art Center, will have multiple artists at their open studio. Check the catalogue to see if your favorite artists are included in any of the group showings.
In addition, several studios offer demonstrations of their work, and some allow interested visitors to try their hand weaving, painting, or whatever strikes their fancy. With more than 40 artists working with paint, sculpture, glass, jewelry, pottery, mixed media, fiber art, wood, basketry, enameling, collage, metal, and cement, you are guaranteed to find something perfect for that space–or that gift!
