As part of Centralia’s new Winterfest Celebration, The Centralia Downtown Association and the City of Centralia are excited to announce the largest fireworks display ever held in Lewis County, a colorfully explosive celebration of the Christmas spirit right after the December 9 Lighted Tractor Parade!
The fireworks show will take place at the athletic fields behind Tiger Stadium on Saturday, December 9 at 8:30 pm. Admission will be free. Donations are encouraged and will go toward the fund for a bronze statue of Centralia’s founder, George Washington.
“We’re excited to give the people of Centralia, and all the visitors who come to town for the Lighted Tractor Parade and the Borst Park Christmas Light Show a fun new way to celebrate the holiday spirit,” said Centralia Mayor Lee Coumbs. “It’s hard to believe, but this Fireworks Display is going to be even bigger than our great Independence Day Fireworks Show. Come out to Centralia for a great time during our Winterfest Celebration and enjoy all the events including the Fireworks Show”
“We’re expanding Centralia’s Christmas and holiday celebrations into a whole month that we’re calling Winterfest,” said Centralia Downtown Association President Jan Nontell. “This fireworks display just shows how big and bold Centralia has become. We know that our Lighted Tractor Parade is a huge part of the holiday season, and now that day is going to be even better. We’ll see you at Winterfest!”
The fireworks display by Wolverine West Fireworks will include 100 – eight inch shells with a 100 salute finale. The 20-minute display has been donated to the City of Centralia by Karl Petree, in memory of his close friend Mark Solkover.
