Saint Joseph School

Saint Joseph School staff members, parents, students and volunteers sincerely thank all those who took part in the annual auction last month which raised more money than ever before. It is a blessing to receive so much support which makes it possible to then share it with so many.
This year’s Lent begins on Wednesday, March 6th with Ash Wednesday. All people are invited to participate in receiving ashes, when we are reminded that we are dust and to dust we shall return, and to take part in a forty day and night practice of reflection and sacrifice. Lent comes from the Anglo Saxon word lencten, which means “spring.” The forty days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry.
Lent concludes on Easter Sunday on April 21 when we celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb on the third day after his crucifixion. Easter is the fulfilled prophecy of the Messiah who would be persecuted, die for our sins, and rise on the third day.
Mass times throughout Lent, Holy Week prior to Easter, and on Easter Sunday, as well as Stations of the Cross which will take place every Friday during Lent, are available by calling the Saint Joseph Church parish office at (360) 748-4953.
