Finding meaningful work is something many people spend years pursuing, and sometimes the path to a fulfilling career appears in unexpected ways. For Amber Taylor, that path led her back home — and helping others find a home of their own.

Taylor pursued a science degree at Linfield University while playing softball. She then transferred to Oregon State University and was deeply involved in her biochemistry laboratory studies. Initially planning to further her degree and dedicate her career to scientific research. She then decided to move back home to Chehalis and realized that another passion was calling to her more. More than six and a half years ago, Taylor decided to follow that passion and build a career in real estate.

“I loved the lab work part of science, but real estate introduces me to a lot of people and fulfills that creative problem solving that I enjoy,” said Taylor.

That combination of relationship-building and problem-solving has become the foundation of her success. While many people view real estate simply as buying and selling houses, Taylor sees something much deeper — an opportunity to help families build stability, create financial security, and establish a legacy for future generations.

For Taylor, four key elements make the profession especially rewarding: creating new connections, building lasting friendships, solving challenges creatively, and maintaining a flexible schedule that allows quality time with family.

As a single mother, family has always remained central to her priorities. The flexibility of real estate allows her to attend school functions, be present for important milestones, and spend meaningful time with her daughter while still building a successful career.

That balance between professional ambition and personal commitment has helped shape Taylor’s approach to serving clients. She understands that purchasing a home is one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions a person can make. Buyers are not simply searching for square footage or curb appeal — they are looking for a place where life will happen.

“Ultimately, when buying a home most people are looking for privacy, good schools, and safety,” Taylor explained. “Lewis County offers all of this.”

Indeed, Lewis County has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. Since 2019, the county’s population has grown by nearly 14 percent, increasing from just over 79,000 residents to nearly 90,000 today. As more people discover the quality of life available in Southwest Washington, the demand for housing and knowledgeable local realtors continues to grow.

Taylor believes strong communication and collaboration are essential in helping clients navigate that competitive market. Good realtors do far more than unlock doors and arrange showings. Whether purchasing a home or a commercial property, they help buyers understand financing options, guide sellers through marketing strategies, and work through complicated negotiations with professionalism and care.

One area where Taylor particularly excels is relationship-building within the industry itself.

“I always want to congratulate a realtor on their sales,” she said. “It is part of building a good team around you so that you can support each other.”

That positive outlook has helped Taylor develop a reputation for professionalism and encouragement among both clients and fellow agents.

Taylor works with eXp Realty as part of the Paula Burrows Team, where mentorship and collaboration play an important role in daily business. Taylor credits Paula Burrows with providing guidance, encouragement, and support not only for her, but for the entire team.

Burrows is also known throughout the community for her generosity and commitment to helping youth — values that align closely with Taylor’s own outlook on life and business.

For Taylor, success in real estate is not measured solely in sales numbers. It is found in the relationships built along the way, the families helped through major life transitions, and the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the community she calls home.

In many ways, Amber Taylor’s journey into real estate has become more than a career path. It has become a way of helping others find their own way home.
