Local Realtor Celebrates Major Milestone
Busch Buschlen, local realtor with Chehalis Valley Realty celebrates 53 years in real estate April 15, 2023. This major accolade comes with decades of knowledge and experience.
Busch was raised in Michigan, but after marrying the love of his life in May 1962, he and his wife Jan moved West to escape the cold Michigan winters. They moved first to Seattle, then on to California, and lastly Mexico where they taught, traveled, and discovered numerous archaeology sites before returning back to Washington. Upon their return, Busch decided to get his real estate license in April 1970, then welcomed daughter Julie in July 1970. While Busch has traveled to every state in the country and held property in many places, he has called Lewis County home since 1977. In his spare time, Busch enjoys spending time with family, traveling, attending weekly Men’s Group Breakfast, playing cards, and catching up with friends. Dawn’s Delectables to Celebrate Milestone 10-Year Diamond Anniversary
Woman, Veteran-Owned Dessert & Sandwich Shoppe Will Host Prairie Fire Band
Dawn’s Delectables has announced plans to celebrate their upcoming 10th anniversary of operation in historic downtown Centralia. On Tuesday, April 18, Dawn’s Delectables will be offering free drip coffee and 10% off eat-in orders all day. Then from 3pm-6pm they will have free cupcakes and dolce fine espresso shots while hosting the well-known Prairie Fire Band. The public is invited to join in festivities all day long.
When Dawn Merchant opened Dawn’s Delectables in 2013, the shoppe occupied one space on North Tower Avenue. Since then, Dawn’s Delectables has expanded and doubled its building footprint, now occupying an entire ground level of their building located at the intersection of North Tower and Pine Street, next to Pine Street Plaza.
In the past 10 years, Dawn’s Delectables has earned countless local awards, including numerous nominations and wins in The Chronicle’s “Best of Lewis County,” as well as nods in KMNT’s “Listener’s Choice” event and United Way’s “Chef’s Night Out,” among other events in the community and region.
Experience Chehalis Hosts Earth Day Community
Clean-up on April 22
In celebration of Earth Day, Experience Chehalis is organizing their 2nd Annual Earth Day Community Clean-up on Saturday, April 22 from 10 am – 2 pm. The public is invited to come downtown and join in the activities.
Volunteers can check in at the Lewis County Historical Museum and choose from a list of activities including weeding and wiping off benches to sweeping downtown and collecting litter in areas throughout Chehalis.
To make it a little more fun, Experience Chehalis will offer raffle tickets in exchange for bags of litter returned. Stop by for trash bags at the Lewis County Historical Museum, and for each bag of litter picked up in Chehalis, volunteers will receive a raffle ticket towards downtown gift certificates. The drawing will take place at 2 pm and entrants need not be present to win.

Repair Fair
Do you have something lying around your home that could be useful again if only you knew how to repair it?
Join us at the free Repair Fair. Volunteers experienced in repair will be on hand to try to fix items brought in by the public. They will do their best to make repairs.
We are very excited to be offering the first Repair Fair in Lewis County on Earth Day- April 22!
It will be at the Swift Center at Centralia College from 10 am to 2 pm.
Bring in any small household items, such as:
Chairs and tables
Blenders, coffee makers, lamps, and fans
Cell phones with broken screens
Clothing and curtains, ripped or needing minor alterations
You will need to bring your own replacement parts and materials for specialized repairs, which many are.
