The Chehalis Sports Complex is located in Recreation Park and is home to the W. F. West Fastpitch team and Chehalis Girls Fastpitch Association. The renovation was made possible by The City of Chehalis, with funding from the State and Federal Grants in partnership with The Chehalis Foundation, many local businesses and service groups. Lilly Wall, Recreation Manager at City of Chehalis comments, “ We couldn’t have done it without the community support. The city is grateful for the partnership with the Chehalis Foundation, local businesses and the community who helped fund all of the projects at Recreation Park. The renovation of the Gail and Carolyn Shaw Aquatics Center, The Chehalis Sports Complex, and the Penny Playground.”
Renovations started in 2019 and were completed in 2020. The fields really started being used in 2021.The field complex was renovated from a dirt field to a state-of-the-art ballfield complex featuring artificial turf infields and grass outfields which will allow more scheduling of youth softball and baseball tournaments in Spring and early Summer. The city also replaced failing irrigation and drainage systems at the park. The complex will also be used for weekend tournaments for Girls’ Fastpitch and Boys’ Baseball. Upgrading the field complex will allow tournaments to increase in Chehalis, bringing more tourism dollars to our community. In 2022, The Chehalis Sports Complex facilitated 24 tournaments, accommodating 480 teams with approximately 7,200 players and 21,600 spectators. The tournaments brought a minimum of 57,600 people to Chehalis.
