With the busy holiday season quickly approaching, Centralia Pet Resort encourages pet parents looking to reserve daycare, grooming, or overnight boarding for their pets to start the process early. “Centralia Pet Resort is your pet’s home away from home! We offer a variety of services for your pets, from boarding and daycare to training and grooming,” the business states on its Facebook page.
Established by Scott and Gail Heywood in April 2006, Centralia Pet Resort offers boarding for dogs and the occasional cat 365 days per year, in addition to a dog daycare and professional dog bathing and grooming services Monday through Friday. “Like most kennels, we get busier around the holidays, so we encourage people to call earlier,” Scott Heywood said.
For pet owners of young dogs who may want to go to doggy daycare or be boarded overnight, Heywood said, “We encourage people to make a lot of dog and people friends while their dogs are really very young and expose them to a lot. That really makes it a lot more normal when they come to greet new things. If they are already used to greeting new dog friends, then it’s not that much different, just a new, different playground to greet them in.”

Centralia Pet Resort’s daycare has a “pretty consistent group, or pack, of daycare dogs that we’ve known for quite a while,” Heywood said, adding they do still welcome new dogs into the group. “Dogs that come here for the first time, sometimes people bring them for a daycare trial or something like that, just to get them used to the place,” Heywood said. “And it also helps the owner feel more comfortable if they’ve come here and met us and seen the place.”
The Heywoods encourage all pet owners considering a booking with Centralia Pet Resort to work closely with their pets’ veterinarians to make sure all immunizations are up to date. “No matter where they’re going, all the vets kind of have the same plan as far as what dogs need to stay (at a boarding kennel), and we try to support that as much as possible,” Scott Heywood said.
